Who can join the Afrollywood association?

Anyone or any organisation active in the creative industries of Africa and its diaspora: cinema, music, fashion, performing arts, media, visual arts, publishing, animation and video games, advertising, training, financing, institutions. Lovers of Africa and allies outside the continent are also welcome.

Do I need to have already made a film or released a project?

Accepted Answer

No. We welcome established professionals as well as emerging talents. For beginners, entry is through the "From idea to project" pathway: training, writing, then structuring.

Can states, ministries and embassies become partners?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is a core pillar of our cinema diplomacy project. States, ministries of culture, public agencies, embassies and cultural institutions have a dedicated partnership framework (cooperations, delegations, pavilions, talent calls).

Question 4

My project isn't about cinema. Is it still eligible?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The association brings together all creative sectors. A music label project, a fashion collection, a media outlet, a technical school or an animation studio are fully within our scope.

What is the response time for a partnership request?

Accepted Answer

We review every application and get back to you within 10 business days. Requests linked to an edition of AFROLLYWOOD Cannes are processed as a priority.

When should I submit an application for the Cannes edition?

Accepted Answer

Institutional partnerships and delegations are ideally built 6 to 9 months before the edition. Film, residency and professional participation submissions open later in the year and are announced on the event page.

Does the association only act during the festival?

Accepted Answer

No. The festival is the highlight, but mentoring, training, writing residencies, conferences and cooperation work take place year-round.

Do I need a budget to work with the association?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Some actions (networking, guidance, talent calls) require no budget. Visibility partnerships, delegations and co-productions, on the other hand, involve a contribution negotiated according to your means.

How are partnerships priced?

Each partnership is tailor-made based on your objectives, the requested scope and the duration. The partnership form includes an indicative budget field, with the option to answer "not defined" to open the discussion.

Do you help fund projects?

We do not act as a fund. We direct you to relevant grants, national funds, co-producers, broadcasters and patrons, and we help structure a credible application.

What do you expect from a partner?

Clarity on your objectives, an identified point of contact, a realistic scope and respect for the image of the talents showcased. In return, we commit to precise deliverables and a written timeline.

What documents should I prepare before writing to you?

A short presentation of your organisation, your main objective, the targeted sector, a deadline and, if the project already exists, a synopsis or statement of intent of two pages maximum.

What happens after the form is submitted?

You receive a confirmation page with a file reference and a summary sent to the partnerships team. We then offer you a conversation to define the scope, followed by an agreement if the partnership is confirmed.

Does my project information remain confidential?

Yes. The information provided is shared only with the association's partnerships team, for the purpose of reviewing your request. It is never resold or publicly disclosed.

Are my scripts and concepts protected?

Accepted Answer

We treat scripts, statements of intent and concepts as confidential documents and can sign a confidentiality agreement upon request. We also recommend registering your works with a relevant body before any submission.

Question 16

Can I request the deletion of my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Write to us and we will delete the data related to your request, except for legal obligations linked to an already signed partnership.
